From Haryana to the World Stage: Manish Narwal's Shooting Triumphs

Hailing from Ballabhgarh in Haryana, a state famed for producing champions across disciplines, Manish Narwal has become a leading figure in para‑shooting. The son of a former wrestler, he was surrounded by sport from an early age. At 15, he entered the men’s 10 m air pistol SH1 class and rapidly progressed to international competition.

His first major success arrived at the 2017 Bangkok World Cup, where he clinched gold in the P1 event and broke the junior world record. The following year, at the Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Narwal earned a gold in the men’s P1 and a silver in the mixed 50 m pistol, announcing himself as a rising star.

The Tokyo Paralympics delivered his most celebrated performance – a gold medal in the mixed 50 m pistol. He continued his streak in Paris with a silver in the 10 m event, reinforcing India’s growing stature in para‑shooting. In acknowledgment of his impact, Narwal has been awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and the Arjuna Award.
