Harry Brooke highlights Buttler’s method as key to stronger England side

London, July 18 – With the third and decisive ODI against India looming, England captain Harry Brooke urged his batting lineup to study the approach of long‑time stalwart Jos Buttler. Brooke asserted that the modern ODI game rewards a balanced mix of power hitting and constant strike rotation.

“If every player adopts Buttler’s batting philosophy, England will evolve into a much tougher side,” Brooke told reporters. Buttler, a veteran of almost 200 ODIs, continues to hone his technique, making him a living textbook for aspiring batsmen.

Brooke noted England’s recent reliance on Buttler’s contributions in both limited‑overs and Test cricket. He framed this reliance as an opportunity, encouraging younger batsmen to copy Buttler’s skill of rotating the strike while keeping risk to a minimum, thereby sustaining pressure on opposition bowlers.

The captain believes that a collective habit of rotating the strike, modeled on Buttler’s play, will enable England to set higher totals and chase more efficiently. He confessed that he too must keep learning from the experienced left‑hander.

Regarding the Test arena, Brooke emphasized the necessity for a supportive environment that allows players to produce prolonged innings and maintain dominance over extended periods. He described Test cricket as a test of endurance and consistency, a mindset he expects the side to cultivate.
