Born in 1996 in the village of Mehas, Patiala, Harjinder Kaur’s early sporting life revolved around kabaddi. Financial constraints forced her to quit the sport, but a chance encounter with weightlifting during her university years opened a new avenue. After securing top spots in domestic contests, she represented India internationally. She earned a silver medal at the 2021 Commonwealth Championship in Tashkent and a bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. In Glasgow 2026, she lifted in the 69 kg class and won another silver. At the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya she placed ninth, expressing disappointment but reaffirming her commitment to future triumphs.
