Ghana FA Accepts Queiroz’s Mutual Departure After Recent Setbacks

The Ghana Football Association has formally accepted the resignation of head coach Carlos Queiroz following a string of poor results in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches. Queiroz, who joined the Black Stars less than three months before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, decided to end his contract by mutual agreement.

The team’s recent performances—0-2 loss to Côte d'Ivoire and 2-4 defeat at home to Gambia—raised concerns about the direction of the national side. In a joint statement, the FA highlighted Queiroz’s professional conduct and his contribution to building a stronger future for Ghanaian football.

Queiroz explained that despite the “necessary circumstances” not aligning with his vision, he remained proud of the work done and grateful for the trust of the Ghana FA and its president. He emphasized the importance of unity, continued fan support, and confidence in the players as the nation looks ahead.

Looking forward, the federation will commence a search for a new coach who can capitalize on the groundwork laid and guide the Black Stars toward success in upcoming international competitions.
