Gerhard Erasmus Century Powers Namibia Past Ireland in ODI
A commanding unbeaten innings from captain Gerhard Erasmus helped Namibia defeat Ireland by 31 runs in the second ODI of the series. The victory has evened the five-match contest at one match apiece.
Erasmus was named Player of the Match for his 156 not out and two wickets. The match took place on Saturday at the Namibia Cricket Ground.
The result comes after Ireland won the first game by 55 runs. The two teams have met in only two ODIs, both within this series, and this win is Namibia's first over Ireland in the format.
The series resumes on October 27, followed by matches on October 30 and November 1.
Namibia were put in to bat after losing the toss. They reached 321 for 6 in their allotted overs. An early setback came when Lauren Steenkamp was out for 0 with the total at 4. Michael van Lingen and Jan Frylinck then rebuilt the innings with a 45-run partnership.
Van Lingen was dismissed for 22, with four boundaries, at 49 for 2. Erasmus took over at that point. With Frylinck, he added 117 runs off 135 balls for the third wicket and put the hosts in control.

Erasmus ended on 156 not out from 125 balls, hitting four sixes and fourteen fours. It was the first time a Namibian batter had scored 150 or more in ODI cricket.

Ireland were bowled out for 290 in 47.3 overs. Andrew Balbirnie and Paul Stirling opened with 54 runs. Balbirnie scored 22 from 34 balls. Stirling then put on 44 with Cade Carmichael for the second wicket, reaching 98.
