In a bid to strengthen their squad for the IPL 2026 playoffs push, Lucknow Super Giants have roped in George Linde as a replacement for the unavailable Wanindu Hasaranga. The star spinner’s hamstring injury from the T20 World Cup has ruled him out, leaving LSG to seek alternatives swiftly.
Acquired for 2 crores in the auction, Hasaranga’s injury is a setback, but Linde steps in at 1 crore base price. This will be the South African’s first IPL stint, and fans are eager to see how his experience translates to the league’s high-octane environment.
Linde’s resume is impressive: 37 T20Is for South Africa with 35 wickets and 403 runs, plus extensive domestic T20 exposure across 250-plus games. His left-arm spin and handy lower-order batting make him a perfect fit for LSG’s balanced lineup.
LSG’s form has been encouraging, with victories in two of their three matches. The standout performance was their thrilling 3-wicket win over KKR, where 21-year-old Mukul Chaudhary stole the show. His explosive 54 not out off 27 balls, laced with seven massive sixes, guided the team home on the last delivery after KKR set 182 for 4.
Ayush Badoni’s matching half-century laid the foundation in the chase. With Linde now in the mix, LSG eyes consistency and depth, aiming to build on this momentum amid a competitive season.
