From Playtime to World Record: Ashvi’s 80 Nose Spins in One Minute

What began as a simple game for a young Ranchi girl has turned into a Guinness World Record. Eleven‑year‑old Ashvi Vashishth managed to rotate a hula‑hoop around her nose 80 times in just one minute, a performance captured on May 3, 2026 at DAV Kapildev School.

The record‑setting session was recorded on the school premises, and the official certificate arrived at her home on Thursday, prompting joyous celebrations. Ashvi started practicing the hoop around her nose four to five years ago, initially for fun. Encouragement from family and neighbours transformed the pastime into a disciplined pursuit, and six months before the Guinness attempt she set a clear goal to break a record.

In addition to the Guinness title, Ashvi holds records in the Asia Book of Records – 397 spins in 6 min 40 sec on inline skates – and the India Book of Records – 226 spins in 3 min 46 sec while skating. She attributes her success to her parents Rahul and Kavita Vashishth and her grandfather Ashok Sharma, dedicating the accolades to them.
