Fourth T20I: Kishan Returns, Bhuvneshwar Out as India Bowl First
Auckland, 30 October: India have chosen to bowl first after winning the toss in the fourth T20 International against New Zealand at Eden Park.
India's captain Shreyas Iyer said the side would follow the same pattern as before and begin positively with the first ball. He credited the team for implementing its plan well and noted that the wind and cold were adding to the atmosphere. He also expected the pitch to provide bounce and seam movement, and said the entire team was excited.
The hosts have made two adjustments. Ishan Kishan replaces Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and Mayank Yadav comes in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
New Zealand's captain Mitchell Santner described the match as another fresh start. He observed that the pitch had slightly more bounce and looked good for batting, and that the batting unit had performed well. He added that the team would need to capitalise if it got a good start, and that the wind would make catches difficult. Nathan Smith has been recalled in place of Kyle Jamieson.
Kishan had been sidelined by injury for the last two games, with Suryavanshi playing in his absence. With Kishan fit again, Suryavanshi was dropped. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had struggled over his previous three outings, is also out of the playing eleven.
India are already 3-0 up in the series after winning the opening three games and will hope to extend their unbeaten run. New Zealand, however, remain without a series win and are eager to change that in this fixture.
