Former Keeper Patil Calls for Revamp of India's T20 Attack and Batting Lineup

New Delhi, July 11 – The Indian side’s recent defeats in T20 series against Ireland and England have prompted former wicket‑keeper Parthiv Patil to call for a comprehensive revamp of the team’s attacking options and batting structure.

Patil stressed that repeated dropping of catches has become a systemic problem, noting that the same fielding shortcomings were evident throughout the Ireland tour. "Had the fielders taken two or three more catches in the first game, Ireland would not have reached a score above 180," he said, underscoring the direct link between fielding efficiency and match outcomes.

Turning to the bowling department, Patil argued that India must move beyond the traditional dependence on senior names and instead develop bowlers specifically crafted for the T20 format. He cited the need to give opportunities to younger talents like Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan, while still managing the expectations surrounding the return of Jasprit Bumrah.

On the batting front, Patil warned that an over‑abundance of left‑handed players at the top can limit strategic options. He highlighted that six of the seven opening slots being occupied by left‑handers is not a sustainable model. The resurgence of Tilak Varma, he added, could provide a crucial right‑handed counterbalance.
