Five vacant slots in BCCI’s junior men’s panel to be filled after September deadline

The BCCI’s recent advertisement for five vacancies on the junior men’s selection panel has attracted interest from several former cricketers. Among the most prominent names are ex‑off‑spinner Ramesh Powar and fast‑bowling all‑rounder Ashish Winston Jadeja, both of whom have submitted their profiles ahead of the 5 September deadline.

Powar’s recent coaching résumé includes two seasons guiding Gujarat’s senior team and two separate tenures as head coach of the Indian women’s side, before taking up a spin‑bowling coaching post at the National Cricket Academy. Jadeja’s domestic record boasts 427 wickets in 110 first‑class matches and 47 List‑A games for Uttar Pradesh, underscoring his deep experience in Indian cricket.

If approved, the new five‑member committee will replace the current roster led by former Tamil Nadu cricketer S. Sharath. The previous members – Ranadeb Bos (East), Harvinder Singh Sodhi (North), Pathik Patel (West) and Krishna Mohan (Central) – will step down, allowing the fresh panel to oversee selection for all junior formats, both home and abroad, up to the under‑22 age group.

The selection overhaul coincides with the under‑19 team’s ongoing one‑day series against Australia at Rajkot’s Narayan Shah Stadium, signalling a fresh strategic push for junior cricket development.
