In a significant step towards Ahmedabad’s Commonwealth Games 2030, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held crucial talks with the Commonwealth Sport delegation on Tuesday. This inaugural official tour signals the ramp-up of preparations for the prestigious centenary edition.

Arriving in Gujarat, the delegation under President Donald Rukare and CEO Katie Sadler, including IOA representatives, began their assessment. The group kicked off with a meeting at the CM’s residence in Gandhinagar, setting the tone for detailed venue inspections ahead.

Patel reiterated the state’s resolve to execute the event flawlessly. Drawing inspiration from PM Narendra Modi’s directives, he vowed team-driven efforts for timely infrastructure upgrades and superior amenities. ‘Our goal is a world-class spectacle marking 100 years of Commonwealth sporting history,’ Patel affirmed.

Rukare hailed the hosting opportunity as a matter of pride, applauding Modi’s leadership in elevating Indian sports. The visitors were overwhelmed by Gujarat’s gracious welcome. They extended an invitation to Patel for Glasgow’s current Games, which he warmly accepted, planning a state delegation’s participation to gain insights.

Emphasizing a blend of athletic prowess and cultural richness, Rukare committed to partnering with India for success. Over the next days, the team will evaluate prime sites: the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, EKA Arena, Veer Savarkar Complex in Ahmedabad, Vadodara’s cricket venue, and Ekta Nagar’s Statue of Unity precinct.

India secured the bid at last year’s Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow, following Delhi’s successful 2010 outing. The 2030 Games will honor the inaugural 1930 edition, promising innovation, inclusivity, and unforgettable moments on Gujarat’s global stage.
