FedEx Cup Playoff Hopes Hang on Final Round for Thigala

Greensboro, Aug 9 – With the Windham Championship entering its final round, Sahith Thigala finds his FedExCup Playoff chances hanging by a thread. After a 1‑under 69 in the third round, the Indian‑American now sits in a tie for 11th place, the last event before the playoffs begins.

Thigala’s tournament started strongly, posting an 8‑under 62 that positioned him second on the leaderboard. Two successive 69s in the following rounds erased his early advantage, leaving him ten strokes off the lead after 54 holes.

Hoelser, currently 122nd in FedExCup points, must win the tournament to crack the top‑70 and qualify for the playoffs. His run of 31 bogey‑free holes was interrupted by weather, leading to a 30‑minute delay before he concluded the 16th hole – a par‑3 – with a 30‑foot three‑putt.

England’s Jordan Smith, sitting 68th in FedExCup standings, boosted his position with a hole‑in‑one on the 16th using a 9‑iron, earning 1 million reward points from sponsor Windham.

Kegan Bradley, who made the cut at the exact cutoff score, recorded a 1‑under 69 but remains 72nd in the points list, outside the playoff picture. He will need a low score in the final round to climb the rankings.

Brooks Koepka’s playoff hopes have evaporated after a 74 left him eleven shots short of the qualifying threshold. The Windham Championship represents the last chance for players to secure a FedExCup Playoff spot, and Thigala aims to finish the regular season on a high note with a strong final round performance.
