Experienced Sports Administrator Prashant Singh Takes Charge of SAI Regional Center

Prashant Singh, a veteran sports administrator from Lucknow, has been appointed Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India’s Gandhinagar centre, overseeing the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Singh’s background spans more than a decade in sports administration, covering policy implementation, athlete development, event organisation, sports science, communication, public participation, and institutional capacity building.

He has been deeply involved with the Khelo India Scheme since its inception, launching the first Khelo India School Games in 2018 and managing over ten editions of Khelo India Games and the 36th National Games. Singh also helped design SOPs for national multisport events and served under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and the Olympic Cell, focusing on priority Olympic disciplines.

Singh’s portfolio includes roles as Sports Development Officer for athletics, wrestling, hockey, cycling, fencing, and judo, and contributions to Indian team preparations for the Commonwealth Games 2022, Asian Games, Asian Para Games 2023, and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic events. He was a key architect of the Central Athlete Injury Management System (CAIMS) launched in 2021, bolstering injury prevention and rehabilitation for elite and developing athletes.

From 2022, Singh headed SAI’s media division, overseeing communication, marketing and publicity for campaigns such as “Cheer for India” and the renewed Fit India Movement, including the nationwide “Sunday on Cycle” programme. He also served as Officer on Special Duty to the Director General, aiding strategic planning for future Commonwealth and Olympic bids and supporting the successful IOC Session 2023 in Mumbai. In his new capacity, Singh will champion an athlete‑first approach, enhance talent identification, leverage sports science, and expand podium‑level prospects across Gujarat and Rajasthan.
