The second T20 encounter between India and England unfolded at Old Trafford on July 4. After winning the toss, India chose to field first, a decision driven by the desire to utilise their seam attack under fresh conditions. The selection also saw the inclusion of teenage bowler Vaibhav Sunyavanshi, who replaced Sampson in the side.

Ayyar justified his call, stating that the early‑morning swing would benefit his bowlers and that Sunyavanshi’s net performances demonstrated maturity beyond his years.

England’s skipper Harry Brook kept his side’s batting order unchanged, expressing satisfaction with the squad. He highlighted Jofra Archer’s comeback and Tom Tong’s ability to extract movement, noting that both are capable of delivering disciplined yorkers.

Sunyavanshi’s debut shattered a 37‑year‑old benchmark held by Sachin Tendulkar, making him the youngest Indian to appear in a T20 International at just 15 years and 99 days. The Indian XI also featured the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dubey, Harshit Rana, Akshar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy.
