England Pile Up 386 in Lahore; Sri Lanka Need 387 to Win
England posted a formidable 386 for 5 in the final league fixture of the tri-nation ODI series at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, owing largely to a brilliant hundred from Ben Duckett. Sri Lanka now face a chase of 387.
Tom Banton and Ben Duckett gave England a brisk beginning after being asked to bat first. The pair put on 163 runs for the first wicket across 25 overs. Banton was dismissed for 74 from 75 balls, a knock that included two sixes and eight fours.
Duckett then teamed up with captain Brook for a 107-run stand for the second wicket, scoring at a brisk rate in 75 balls. Brook was out for 44 off 34 balls, with two sixes and three fours to his name.
Duckett held one end together as wickets fell around him. He was finally dismissed at the third wicket after a 132-ball innings of 167, featuring 24 fours.
Jacks (30 off 21), wicketkeeper Jordan Cox (43 off 27) and Sam Curran (21 off 12) added valuable runs in the closing overs, pushing England to their imposing total.
Asitha Fernando led Sri Lanka's attack with two wickets. Dilshan Madushanka, Eshan Malinga and Dasun Shanaka each took one.
Earlier in the series, Sri Lanka had completed a stunning chase of 430 against England, their biggest successful ODI run chase. That performance raises expectations that they can again rise to the occasion here.
With both Sri Lanka and Pakistan already set for the series final, this match carries little risk for Sri Lanka. England, on the other hand, will want to end the tournament on a high.
