Jakarta’s Asian Boxing Championships have witnessed an unprecedented surge from the Indian contingent. Eight fighters—five women and three men—have moved into the final round, while another seven have clinched bronze after semifinal finishes. Among the women, Nisha stopped South Korea’s Hae‑ju Lee in the opening round of the 54 kg category, and Nikita Chand replicated the feat against Japan’s Sari Kokufu in the 60 kg division. Kajal’s second‑round RSC over Kyrgyzstan’s Gulzina Melsvek secured the 65 kg final slot, Muskan’s 5‑0 verdict over Uzbekistan’s Toirova Oysha earned her a place at 75 kg, and Priyanka’s flawless 5‑0 win in the heavyweight 80+ kg secured her final berth.

On the men’s side, Vishwanath Suresh’s 5‑0 victory over the Philippines in the 50 kg division, Ganga’s split‑decision win over Japan in the 55 kg class, and Vamsi’s 4‑1 triumph against Kyrgyzstan in the 65 kg bout propelled them to the championship match. The bronze‑medal haul includes four women—Tanu (51 kg), Prachi (57 kg), Shivani (70 kg) and Naina (80 kg)—and three men—Hitesh (70 kg), Neeraj (75 kg) and Ishan Kataria (90+ kg). The results cement India’s status as a serious contender in Asian boxing.
