Duckett's Blistering 167 Seals England's Win Over Sri Lanka

A blistering innings from Ben Duckett carried England to a 55-run win over Sri Lanka in the sixth match of the ODI tri-series, played at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday. Duckett scored 167 runs off 132 balls, hitting 24 fours along the way.

The victory was England's only success in the tournament and marked the end of their campaign. Duckett's efforts were the highlight of an otherwise difficult series for the visitors.

Pakistan topped the points table after winning three of four matches. Sri Lanka are second with two wins from four matches. England finished third, having lost three of their four games.

The final is scheduled for October 31 at the same venue, where Pakistan will meet Sri Lanka.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to field, and England batted first to make 386 for five. Banton and Duckett opened with 163 runs in 150 balls. Banton made 74 from 75 balls, hitting two sixes and eight fours.

Duckett then teamed up with Harry Brook to add 107 runs in 75 balls for the second wicket. Brook, who was the captain, departed at 270 after scoring 44 off 34 balls with five boundaries.

Will Jacks scored 30 and added 31 runs with Duckett for the third wicket. Jordan Cox stitched together a 40-run stand for the fourth wicket. Sam Curran made 43 and then added 45 runs in 28 balls with Cox, who was not out on 21, for the fifth wicket.

In the Sri Lankan attack, Asitha Fernando was the most effective bowler, taking two wickets for 63 runs. Madushanka, Malinga and Shanaka each took one wicket.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 331 in 45.1 overs. Kamindu Mendis fell for four at 13, and Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando then put on 84 runs for the second wicket. Avishka made 48 off 50 balls with nine boundaries.

Mendis added 80 runs with Pavan Rathnayake for the third wicket. Rathnayake also shared stands of 72 runs with Janith Liyanage for the fifth wicket and 57 with Sahan Arachchige for the sixth. Despite these efforts, Sri Lanka fell short.

Kusal Mendis hit 89 off 71 balls, with five sixes and eight fours. Rathnayake was dismissed for 118 off 77 balls, including 16 boundaries.

Liam Dawson took four wickets for 49 runs for England. Sonny Baker added two wickets.
