Dubey Added to Squad as Reddy Remains Injured Ahead of England ODIs

Mumbai, July 6 – The Indian cricket board has confirmed that Shivam Dubey will travel with the team for the three‑game One Day International series against England, replacing the still‑unfit Nitin Kumar Reddy. Reddy, who suffered a quadriceps strain while fielding in the third ODI against Afghanistan, has not recovered sufficiently to be considered for the July fixtures.

Dubey, a seam‑bowling all‑rounder who has been part of the T20 side already playing five matches in England, will stay on for the ODIs as well. BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia said the selection committee felt Dubey’s experience in English conditions and his dual skill set made him the most suitable replacement.

To date, Dubey’s ODI résumé includes four appearances, 43 runs and one wicket. He is more prolific in the T20 format, where he has over 1,000 runs, six half‑centuries and 34 wickets from 68 matches. His most recent ODI outing was against Sri Lanka in August 2024.

The series schedule features the opener in Birmingham on July 14, a second clash in Cardiff on July 16, and a finale at Lord’s on July 19. The updated playing XI comprises captain Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, vice‑captain Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prithvi Shaw, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurkeerat Singh and Shivam Dubey.
