Independent Director Dr. Rose Rivaz Joins ICC Task Force to Boost Afghan Female Cricket
Dubai, July 13 – Dr. Rose Rivaz, an independent director of the International Cricket Council, announced her appointment to the Special Task Force overseeing the development of Afghan women refugee cricketers.
Speaking at the council’s annual session, Dr. Rivaz said, “It is an honour to contribute to this vital initiative. Our task is to craft a clear, durable roadmap that delivers structured coaching, competitive opportunities and a high‑performance pathway for these athletes.”
The task force will also coordinate with local cricket clubs to provide strength‑and‑conditioning, physiotherapy and increased playing time. Players residing in Australia, England and Canada will continue to train within their domestic structures, gaining regular match practice.
Dr. Rivaz emphasized that the programme reflects the ICC’s broader commitment to generate sustainable opportunities through cricket, and she looks forward to collaborating with delivery partners to ensure the plan is executed with purpose, integrity and long‑term stability.
