DPL Auction Delivers Near‑Perfect Team for Akash Nangia's Franchise
Akash Nangia, the proprietor and director of the former Delhi‑6 franchise, praised the recent DPL 2026 auction for delivering a squad that mirrors his strategic goals.
“The auction feels like a complex puzzle; you can’t be 100 % sure of the outcome, but we are thrilled with the result,” he remarked.
The franchise now lists Anuj Rawat, Rohan Rana, Digvijay Rathi and newly signed Pankaj Jaswal among its ranks, joining a robust group of players with IPL experience. This talent pool is expected to make the tournament a prime showcase for emerging and established cricketers.
The auction saw participation from more than 400 male and over 200 female athletes. Eight men’s franchises each had an adjusted budget of INR 1.5 crore after accounting for retained players, while the four women’s franchises were allotted INR 75 lakh post‑retention.
Prior to the auction, 65 male and 28 female players were already retained by their respective teams. The third edition of the DPL will run from July 31 through August 30, with eight men’s teams and four women’s teams competing. Last season’s titles went to West Delhi Lions under Nitesh Rana’s captaincy and South Delhi Superstars led by Shweta Sahrawat.
