DPL 2026 finale: Young Riders bowl out Old Delhi 6, finish season on a high

NEW DELHI, August 26 — The curtain fell on the DPL 2026 season with East Delhi Riders edging Old Delhi 6 by ten runs in a ten‑over encounter at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Riders’ innings was anchored by Suryansh Rana’s rapid 42 off 19 balls and Sujal Singh’s aggressive 14 off six, taking the total to 118/6.

Old Delhi 6 began their chase confidently, adding 30 runs in the opening two overs. However, Simarjeet Singh’s breakthrough wicket of supporter Setth shifted the momentum. Simarjeet continued to apply pressure, eventually restricting the opposition to 108/6 in ten overs.

Speaking after the game, Simarjeet highlighted the learning curve for the young squad, noting that the experience of handling high‑pressure moments will serve them well in future competitions. He also referenced MS Dhoni’s guidance on maintaining composure, which he has internalised throughout the tournament.

“The victory feels special because it reflects the hard work our youngsters put in day after day,” Simarjeet said. “Dhoni’s advice to stay present helped me make the right decisions when the game was on the line.”

Despite the defeat, Old Delhi 6 secured third place in the points table and earned a place in the eliminator against Outer Delhi Warriors, keeping their DPL hopes alive.

The Riders now look forward to the upcoming domestic season with renewed confidence and the prospect of a stronger performance in the next DPL edition.
