Serbian Star Novak Djokovic Advances After 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 Victory Over Zverev
Novak Djokovic fought back from a set down to defeat Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the China Open quarterfinals held in Beijing. The win secures his spot in the semifinals and keeps his unbeaten streak at ATP 500 level intact.
The match was Djokovic's first in Beijing since 2015, and Zverev entered as the top seed after winning the French Open and US Open. Zverev dominated the early exchanges, taking the first set with a solid 6-4.
Djokovic responded by raising his first‑serve percentage and targeting Zverev's backhand. He broke at 4-4 in the second set, then held serve to level the match.
In the final set, both competitors exchanged long rallies, but Djokovic captured a decisive break at 4-4 and calmly served out the set, sealing the 6-4 finish.
The Serbian champion now looks to add a seventh China Open title to his résumé, while Zverev's hopes of climbing back to world No. 1 have been set back.
