Delhi’s 8-Year-Old Yoga Prodigy Secures Champion‑of‑Champions Trophy

Vanya Sharma, an eight‑year‑old from Delhi’s Rohini Sector 22, emerged as the champion‑of‑champions at the fourth UISF Asia‑Pacific Yoga Asana Sports Championship held in Bangkok. She captured two gold medals in the 6‑8 year age bracket, beating competitors from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and a host of other nations.

The event featured roughly 200 athletes representing seven countries. Vanya’s flawless execution of advanced asanas and her composed demeanor earned her the top spot in both individual and overall categories.

According to her father and trainer, Hemant Sharma, Vanya follows a disciplined schedule that includes two hours of yoga practice each evening between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The regimen focuses on warm‑up, posture alignment, and pranayama, which he believes are essential for competitive success.

Having qualified for the UISF World Cup scheduled for December, Vanya’s achievements add to her portfolio of twenty world records set since she began practicing yoga at two years old.
