Delhi Capitals appoint Saurav Ganguly as IPL head coach

The IPL franchise Delhi Capitals has named former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly as its head coach. This appointment adds a new chapter to a seven‑year association that began when Ganguly joined the Capitals as an advisor in 2019. He later held senior positions, including director of cricket for the men’s and women’s squads, playing a key role in building the team’s cricketing infrastructure. Ganguly, now 54, said he is thrilled to take on the head‑coach role, citing his long‑standing relationship with the owners, management, staff and players. Chairman Parth Jain praised Ganguly’s leadership and said the Capitals are poised to compete for the IPL title under his guidance. Co‑owner Kiran Kumar Granthi noted that Ganguly’s insight into the franchise’s structure will be a major asset.
