Deepika Sharma’s Rise and Other Asian Cup Standouts in ICC T20 Rankings

Dubai, 8 September – The International Cricket Council’s newest women’s T20 bowling rankings highlight a significant climb for India’s Deepika Sharma, who advanced two places to reach sixth overall. Her eight wickets in three Asia Cup matches were pivotal in India’s semi‑final triumph, earning her a spot just behind England’s Linsey Smith.

Shikha Pandey of India retained the top position, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean occupy the second and third slots. South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk and England’s Lauren Bell round out the top five.

Other Asia Cup performers also saw their ICC positions improve: Bangladesh’s Marufa Akhtar leapt to eighteenth, Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu rose to twenty‑eighth, and Sultana Khatun moved up to thirty‑seventh. Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong and teammate Suliporn Laomi climbed to forty‑seventh and fifty‑third respectively.

In the batting rankings, Australia’s Beth Mooney leads, followed by Georgia Voll, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, West Indies’ Hayley Matthews, India’s Smriti Mandhana, and a mix of players from Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia and India completing the top ten.
