New Zealand allrounder Colin de Grandhomme has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan. Head coach Gary Stead confirmed that de Grandhomme has a “stress reaction” in his right foot and isn’t quite ready yet for running, let alone bowling.
“We still haven’t been able to get him back to running and then obviously bowling as well,” Stead said. “Looking like hopefully a mid-January return.”
The plan for Kane Williamson is to join the squad ahead of the second T20I against Pakistan but all that depends on when his first child arrives.
“There’s no update on baby news so we’ll let them carry on as is,” Stead said. “… plan still is at this stage that he will join the team for T20s two and three.”
The news on the injury front for Ajaz Patel is positive. The spinner who missed the two Tests against West Indies will be linking up with the New Zealand ‘A’ squad in Whangarei to test his calf injury.
Scan results on Lockie Ferguson are awaited. The fast bowler complained of back pain after the T20I series against West Indies and could be ruled out of action for the rest of the season.
