The opening session of the Iran Cup match at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium produced a roller‑coaster of events. Rest of India, after losing the toss, attempted to chase a respectable total but were bowled out for 237.

The first wicket fell quickly when Sunat Sangwan was caught for eight. Shikhar Mohan and Sudip Ghrami then gathered 24 runs before Ghrami’s wicket fell at eight. Mohan steadied the innings with Sarfaraz Khan, adding 76 runs off 133 deliveries. Mohan’s innings ended at 60, featuring nine fours and a six.

Captain Rishabh Pant’s entry yielded only ten runs before the fourth wicket collapsed at 133. Smaran Ravi Chandran rebounded, scoring 68 with nine boundaries, while Aakash Deep chipped in with 22 runs, taking the score past the 200‑run barrier.

Jammu & Kashmir’s bowlers shone: Sunil Kumar and Nasir Mujtaba each grabbed three scalps, Umar Nazir Mir took two, and Abid Mushtaq and Saahil added one wicket each. When Jammu & Kashmir began their chase, they managed seven overs, losing two wickets for 21 runs, with Shubham Pundir (1) and Umar Mir (4) falling early.
