Commonwealth Games 2030 Planning Committee Meets to Finalize Gujarat Blueprint

Gandhinagar, July 7 – A planning committee comprising senior Gujarat officials and representatives from the proposed organising company convened to finalize the blueprint for the Commonwealth Games 2030. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sangvi emphasized that the session addressed critical aspects such as the event’s roadmap, infrastructure milestones, and inter‑agency coordination.

Through a post on X, Sangvi conveyed that the meeting is a cornerstone in the journey to bring the centennial Commonwealth Games to Gujarat. He reiterated the state’s vision of delivering Olympic‑standard venues and expanding opportunities for athletes nationwide.

The committee’s work follows the confirmation of Ahmedabad as the host city for the Games slated for October 2030, marking the 100th edition of the event. India’s first hosting experience was in New Delhi in 2010.

Officials are advancing a governance framework that will create a single organising entity, uniting central and state ministries, sports councils, and other key stakeholders. This entity will manage planning, infrastructure rollout, operational logistics and overall event oversight.

Preparations also include upgrading existing venues and constructing new sites to accommodate a broad spectrum of sports, with an expected 74 Commonwealth Games Association athletes participating.
