Court to Hear Abhishek Porcel in Hubli Rape Case Linked to Fake Wedding
A criminal case involving Delhi Capitals player Abhishek Porcel is set to be heard at the Chinsurah Court after his arrest in Hubli. The accusation stems from a complaint by a Karnataka-based medical student who alleges that Porcel used a fabricated marriage proposal to commit sexual assault. The complainant says that their relationship spanned over three years, during which they made wedding arrangements and traveled abroad together before the bond fractured. An earlier disagreement a year and a half ago prompted police mediation, but without a formal FIR. When the victim finally lodged an FIR at Mogra police station, senior officials including the district superintendent and Crime DSP issued orders for a thorough probe. The investigation led to multiple searches of Porcel's Chandannagar residence, but he remained elusive until the Calcutta High Court directed his detention. Porcel will now face judicial scrutiny for the alleged rape.
