Countdown to Asia’s Largest Para‑Sport Event: 100 Days and New Gear

The “100 Days to Go” ceremony held in Nagoya on July 16 marked a milestone for the Aichi‑Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games. The Organising Committee unveiled the Games torch, the official medal series, a specially designed torch‑relay uniform and a set of commemorative gifts featuring the mascot Ujumin.

Government delegates, local officials, Paralympic ambassadors and members of the public attended, showcasing the collective excitement for the October 18‑24 schedule. Chairman Mazid Rashid, representing the Asian Paralympic Committee, joined hosts from the prefecture, the city of Nagoya and other key partners to celebrate the progress of the Games’ preparations.

The upcoming competition will draw around 3,000 athletes from 45 National Paralympic Committees, competing in 18 different sports. The medals, inspired by the “Imagine One Heart” tagline, aim to celebrate cultural unity and the dedication required to reach the podium. Likewise, the torch‑relay uniform embodies the themes of togetherness, hope and shared celebration among athletes, volunteers, officials and spectators.

Rashid highlighted that the Games, set to be Japan’s first major multi‑sport event since the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, will leave a legacy that surpasses medals and records, fostering a society that respects and supports people of all abilities.
