Coach Rajinder Singh Reelu Credits Training Centre for Jandu Kumar’s Medal
Coach Rajinder Singh Reelu expressed delight after his trainee Jandu Kumar lifted a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games. He revealed that just 15 days before the event, Kumar suffered a minor shoulder strain that threatened his medal hopes. Reelu reassured the athlete, stating, "We believed in his ability and pushed through the setback." The duo’s preparation took place at the Sai Centre in Gandhinagar, a facility that began para‑powerlifting activities in 2019 with only two athletes. Today, the centre hosts 13 lifters, including Asian Games medallist Parmjeet Singh. Reelu praised the state’s increased focus on sports, noting that the government’s promotion has created a nurturing environment for para‑athletes. He added that the next objective is to convert the bronze into gold at upcoming competitions.
