Coach Sitanshu Kotak explains experience factor behind Bhuvneshwar's call‑up

During a pre‑match press conference in Ranchi, before the second T20 against the West Indies, Coach Sitanshu Kotak spoke openly about the role of experience in the selection of Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the New Zealand series. Kotak noted that while younger bowlers like Mohammed Shami are also in contention, the team needed a seasoned campaigner who can handle pressure in unfamiliar conditions. He added that Kumar’s back‑to‑back strong IPL seasons made him a logical choice, especially when the board considered the challenges posed by New Zealand’s pitches. Kotak clarified that he is not a selector, but his observations suggest that the decision was a blend of form, experience, and strategic need.
