Chandramohan’s Fight Journey Ends in Narrow Defeat, Sets Up Bronze Clash

Chandramohan’s impressive run at the Under‑23 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas concluded with a tight 4‑3 points loss to Iran’s Mahdi Mohammad Yusefihajivar in the semifinal of the 97 kg freestyle category. Earlier in the tournament, Chandramohan dominated his opponents, posting an 11‑1 technical superiority win over Joseph Lee Seely, a 14‑0 shutout of Brazil’s Korea Lima, and a 14‑4 technical victory over Georgia’s Giorgi Gogrichiani.

The narrow defeat places Chandramohan in the bronze‑medal contest, where a win would secure his second individual medal for India at the championships. His teammate Jaskaran, also fighting for bronze after an 11‑0 loss to Japan’s Kaiji Ogino, will be looking to join him on the podium.

India’s wrestling delegation has already earned three medals, with Amrita’s silver in the women’s 72 kg and Komal’s bronze in the 59 kg division, reflecting a solid showing despite visa restrictions that kept several weight classes out of competition.
