Chaminda Vaas to Mentor Young Pacers at Delhi Capitals Ahead of IPL 2027
In a strategic move before the 2027 Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals have brought former Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vaas on board as the fast‑bowling coach. The appointment was shared on the franchise’s X platform early Saturday. Vaas, 52, enjoyed a prolific international career, featuring in 111 Tests, 322 One‑Day Internationals and six T20 Internationals, and was part of Sri Lanka’s victorious 1996 World Cup squad. He accumulated 355 Test wickets, 400 ODI wickets and added 18 IPL wickets in just 13 matches. The Capitals’ coaching overhaul also introduced ex‑India captain Sourav Ganguly as head coach and former Indian all‑rounder Yuvraj Singh as assistant coach and batting mentor. While former India spinner Amit Mishra may soon take over spin‑bowling responsibilities, the fast‑bowling unit will now benefit from Vaas’s extensive experience, giving young Indian pacers a unique learning opportunity.
