Central Delhi Queens claim final win, Riders limp to 97 in WPL 2026

New Delhi, September 1 – In the closing fixture of the Women's Delhi Premier League 2026, the Central Delhi Queens secured a 41‑run victory over the East Delhi Riders, effectively ending their campaign on a positive note.

Both squads were already out of the title race. The Queens, with two wins from six outings, settled for third place, while the Riders, having managed only one win, finished fourth. Wednesday’s finale will pit the North Delhi Strikers against the South Delhi Superstars for the championship.

The Queens elected to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, compiling 138 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Captain Deepika Sharma contributed 13 runs off 14 balls, while opening partner Tanu Chauhan added 14 before succumbing. The innings was rescued by Nidhi Mahoto, who produced a commanding 80 off 53 balls, featuring two sixes and eleven fours. Additional contributions came from Akshita Jain (25) and a late surge by Akanksha Patel.

On the bowling front, Bharti Raw’s figures of 3/13 and Vanshika’s 3/14 proved decisive. Tamanna Singh also chipped in with two wickets.

In response, the Riders managed only 97 runs for five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. A partnership of 43 runs between Simran Bahadur and Prema Sivach offered a brief glimmer of hope but fell short of the target. Deepika Sharma emerged as the top bowler for the Queens with three scalps; Neha Parmar and Nischtha Bist each claimed a wicket.

The championship decider awaits on Wednesday, where the league’s two best teams will compete for the title.
