Captain Rinku Discusses Top Order Struggles and Strategy

Following Meerut Mavericks’ narrow triumph over Noida Kings, captain Rinku Singh opened up about the batting order’s underperformance in the UP T20 League Qualifier‑2.

Singh noted that the side lost early wickets and was reduced to 61/4 while chasing 135 runs. He stressed that the top order must adapt its mindset, focusing on shot selection, strike rotation, and positioning on the crease.

Having batted in pressure situations for years, Singh said the mental calculations of which ball to attack have become second nature. "You constantly think about the strike, the field, and the required runs," he explained.

He also highlighted the importance of a united bowling effort. After Noida Kings posted a solid 134/8, Mavericks’ bowlers, led by a decisive 19th over from Singh himself, managed to break crucial partnerships and regain momentum.
