Captain Ayyar Defends Batting Approach Despite 24‑Run Loss

When questioned about the impact of Abhishek Sharma’s reduced time at the top of the order, Ayyar dismissed the claim, pointing instead to the West Indies bowlers’ disciplined execution and the assistance offered by the Hyderabad pitch. He noted that the ball occasionally bounced oddly and slowed down in the middle overs, but the Indian bowlers seemed aware of the conditions. The captain maintained that India’s batting strategy – maintaining a 12‑run‑per‑over tempo – was appropriate for the chase, even though the final result fell short.
