Cameron Green, Matt Renshaw Out After ODI Injury Ahead of Tests
New Delhi, Oct 1 – Australia’s win over South Africa in the final ODI was overshadowed by injuries to key players. All‑rounder Cameron Green suffered an upper‑thigh strain while playing a shot, feeling a sudden twinge that forced him to leave the field. He also missed the chance to bowl due to a lingering shoulder problem. In the same innings, opening batsman‑bowler Matt Renshaw injured his right wrist while fielding at square leg in the 14th over, exiting the ground after the over concluded.
Acting skipper Michael Marsh expressed hope that both men will be cleared to play before the Test series starts on 9 October, though he has yet to discuss their condition directly. "Green was prepared to bowl a few overs and had trained well. The injury is unfortunate, but I trust it won’t significantly affect his preparation," Marsh noted.
The three‑match Test series will see the first game in Durban on 9 October, the second in Gqeberha on 18 October and the final in Cape Town on 27 November. As both sides vie for a place in the World Test Championship final, the series is set to be a decisive encounter.
