BWF’s 2027 Scoring Change Tested Early in India

General Secretary Sanjay Mishra explained that the BWF intends to adopt the 3 × 15 format globally starting January 2027. To smooth the transition, BAI has decided to trial the system domestically a year in advance. Mishra said the early adoption will ensure uniformity across competitions, help athletes build the necessary skill set, and reduce adaptation challenges when the new standard is enforced worldwide. The association expects that the early exposure will also improve India’s competitive edge on the international stage.
