BWF World Championships 2026 Returns to Delhi, India Sees Strong Opening
From August 17 to 23, the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium hosts the BWF World Championships 2026, marking the return of badminton’s premier global event to India after a 17‑year interval. The opening day featured a series of Indian successes, highlighted by the men’s doubles win of Harirnan Amshakarun and M.R. Arjun.
Besides the doubles triumph, five‑time world‑medallist PV Sindhu opened her women’s singles campaign against Ireland’s Sofia Noble, while rising star Ayush Shetty prepared to meet China’s top‑seed and defending champion Xue Qiu in the men’s singles round.
The schedule also includes women's doubles action with Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singh facing Spain’s Nicole Carulla and Carmen Maria Jimenez. Early results suggest Indian shuttlers are in good form and eager to add to the nation’s medal tally.
