Buttler's injury woes extend to upcoming tours and SA20 league

Following a successful operation on his left hamstring, England cricketer Joe Buttler announced a renewed determination to recover fully. The injury, first incurred while batting in the one‑day series against Sri Lanka, has been a recurring problem for the veteran, who also battled a similar issue during the IPL 2024 season.

Buttler's post showcased him in a hospital bed, thumb raised, with a brace on his leg. Despite the optimism, the setback has already cost him a place in the forthcoming tri‑series in Pakistan and the white‑ball series in Australia scheduled for November. Moreover, his participation in the SA20 competition starting on 17 January, where he represents the Durban Super Giants, is now in doubt.

The England and Wales Cricket Board responded by extending his contract for another year, but the agreement will lapse before the 2027 World Cup in South Africa. ECB Managing Director Rob Key confirmed that the board still envisions Buttler in the World Cup squad, highlighting his commitment to the national team.
