Jos Buttler Set for Milestone 200th ODI as England Face India

England’s squad for the first One‑Day International against India has been unveiled, with the most eye‑catching storyline being wicketkeeper‑batsman Jos Buttler’s 200th ODI appearance. Buttler, who debuted against Pakistan in Dubai on 21 February 2012, arrives at the milestone with 5,515 runs, 11 centuries and 29 fifties to his name.

The batting order sees Jacob Bethel opening alongside Ben Duckett, a combination that reflects England’s desire for stability at the top after a succession of short‑term pairings – including Phil Salt, Jamie Smith, Jack Cribb and Rehan Ahmed.

Captained by Harry Brook, England will rely on a spin‑dominant attack – Will Jacks, Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid – to challenge India’s top‑order built around Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Fast bowling responsibilities are split between the returning Jofra Archer and the pace spearhead Josh Tong, while Gus Atkinson does not make the final list. The series will continue with games in Cardiff on 16 July and at Lord’s on 19 July.
