International Stars Roman Buruchaga, Rinky Hijikata Join TPL Markey Roster

Two of the world’s rising tennis talents have been confirmed for the Tennis Premier League’s eighth season. Argentine Roman Buruchaga, who will play for the Kolkata Thunder Blades, is the highest‑ranked singles Markey player at world No. 60, having reached a career‑high of No. 56 earlier this year.

Australian Rinky Hijikata, slated to represent the Rajasthan Rangers, brings a strong doubles pedigree. He won the 2023 Australian Open men’s doubles title and advanced to the 2025 Wimbledon men’s doubles final. Hijikata’s best singles ranking is No. 82, while he has climbed to No. 23 in the doubles rankings.

Both players praised the TPL format. Hijikata said, “I am thrilled to be part of the Rajasthan Rangers and to make my TPL debut this season. The 25‑point format makes the league very exciting, and I can’t wait to feel the energy in Hyderabad.” Their inclusion adds an international flair to the league, complementing Indian stars and enhancing the overall competitive balance.

The Markey players will be joined by Frenchman Terrence Atmane, Czech Dalibor Svrsina, Croatian Dino Prijmic, Australian Adam Walton, and Indian veteran Alexander Muller, completing the roster for the eight franchises that will compete in Hyderabad from December 8‑13.
