Bumrah gears up for England ODI series after red‑ball sessions

In Ahmedabad, India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was photographed bowling with a red SG ball as part of a rigorous training routine. The 32‑year‑old posted the images on his Instagram story on Sunday, where members of the Gujarat domestic squad observed his technique.

Having been rested for the recent T20 contests against Ireland and England, Bumrah is set to be a key component of the three‑match One Day International series versus England, which kicks off on 14 July. This series will be his first ODI outing after the 2023 World Cup.

Previously, the pacer was given a break from a home Test against Afghanistan and three ODIs in June. He is also expected to partake in the T20 competition at the Asian Games slated for September.

Red‑ball experts underscore the significance of Bumrah’s upcoming involvement in the two‑Test series against Sri Lanka, scheduled from 15 to 27 August—his maiden red‑ball encounter on Sri Lankan soil. The bowler will later join the squad for a two‑Test series against New Zealand beginning 19 November.

India currently sit at the fifth position on the World Test Championship table, holding 48.15 % of the possible points after nine matches. Bumrah’s statistics—234 wickets in 52 Tests at an average of 19.79, 149 wickets in 89 ODIs, and 121 wickets in 95 T20Is—remain vital for India’s push towards a strong finish.
