Brazilian striker João Pedro commits to Chelsea until 2034

In a statement released on Saturday, Chelsea announced that Brazilian attacker João Pedro has agreed to a new contract that runs through 2034. The forward moved to London from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2025 and immediately left an imprint, contributing crucial goals that helped Chelsea win the FIFA Club World Cup – two in the semi‑final against former club Fluminense and another in the final versus Paris Saint‑Germain.

Pedro’s inaugural full season saw him score 20 goals across domestic league, cup and European fixtures, earning him the supporters’ Player of the Season award. He opened the 2025/26 Premier League season with a goal against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge and later delivered the lone goal in a victory over Tottenham Hotspur. In the Champions League, he struck a double against Napoli.

The striker expressed his happiness with the new deal, saying that committing to Chelsea for the long term aligns with his childhood dream of playing for a big club and that the club’s winning tradition inspires him. He also highlighted the positive atmosphere under new boss Javi Alonso, noting a motivated squad ready to chase the season’s objectives.

Chelsea, who ended the previous campaign in 10th place, will kick off the 2026‑27 Premier League season on 24 August when they face Fulham.
