Boxing silver medallist Lovlina meets Prime Minister after Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games 2026 concluded with India securing several medals, and Lovlina Borgohain added a silver in the women’s middle‑weight boxing category. After her bout with Australia’s Emma‑Sue Green‑Tree, she secured the medal through a comeback in the second round.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated her on the achievement and asked whether the world’s boxers were now more cautious about facing Indian opponents.

Lovlina recounted the match details, noting that the first round was evenly scored 10‑10 by four judges, while she dominated the second round 4‑1. The third round again saw a split decision, leaving her with the silver medal.

The Prime Minister encouraged her to continue raising India’s profile in global sports and pledged further support for upcoming competitions.
