Bhote Koshi River Flood Triggers Landslide, Death Toll Reaches 177

On August 26, a sudden surge in the Bhote Koshi River caused catastrophic flooding across three districts of Nepal. The disaster was triggered when the river's tributary, Lhend, stopped flowing after a landslide blocked its course. The first village hit was Timure near the Nepal‑China border. Because there was no rain forecast, residents were caught off guard while carrying out daily activities. Official reports confirm that 177 people have died as a result of the flash flood.
