A young cricketer from Bengal, Priyajit Ghosh, has tragically passed away at the age of 22 following a sudden heart attack while at the gym. The incident occurred on Friday morning in Bolpur, Birbhum district, where Ghosh resided. He harbored ambitions of representing Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and ultimately playing for India. Cricket was more than just a passion for Ghosh; it was a central part of his life. His talent was evident from a young age, quickly leading to recognition in the sport. He gained prominence during the 2019-19 inter-district Under-16 cricket tournament organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), where he emerged as the top run-scorer and received an award from the CAB for his outstanding performance. Fitness was a priority for Ghosh, who drew inspiration from Virat Kohli. He regularly visited the gym, and on Friday, while working out at a fitness center in Bolpur’s Mission Compound area, he collapsed. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, he succumbed to a cardiac arrest. His untimely death has sent shockwaves throughout the cricketing community, as it marks the loss of a promising player whose cricketing aspirations were cut short far too soon. The increasing prevalence of heart attacks among young people is a concerning issue that demands immediate attention.
