BCCI signals fresh start for support staff after England series

Following the conclusion of the India‑England white‑ball series, the BCCI disclosed that the contracts of two senior support staff members – assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T. Dilip – have been allowed to lapse. The board’s secretary, Devjit Saikia, clarified that neither contract will be extended further, and that the organization will soon disclose the names of their successors.

Dilip’s contract, which had been extended for an additional year after its original expiry, finished its term this season. Ten Doeschate’s deal formally ended on June 10, but he remained with the squad until the final match on July 19, after which his services were concluded. The BCCI emphasized that the departures are purely contractual and not the result of any resignation or controversy.

The board promised a rapid recruitment process, stating that the new appointments will be announced within a day or two. Ten Doeschate, a former international all‑rounder, entered the Indian coaching set‑up after the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, under the leadership of new head coach Gautam Gambhir. He contributed to both the batting and fielding departments, earning the respect of players and fellow coaches.

India’s Test performance has been a cause for concern, with the team surrendering the Border‑Gavaskar Trophy to Australia and enduring series defeats against New Zealand (0‑3) and South Africa (0‑2). The upcoming reshuffle of the support staff is seen as an effort to bolster the coaching framework and address the challenges faced in the longest format.
