IPL 2025: BCCI has implemented 2 new rules for IPL 2025, which is going to start from 22 March. The board has removed the ban on the use of saliva on the ball. Apart from this, the second ball will be used after 11 overs in the second innings of the IPL match. Both these decisions have been taken in the meeting of captains and managers held in Mumbai, on which all the captains agreed. Both decisions are going to give relief to the bowlers. Not only this, the impact player rule will also continue this season. There was a demand to remove this rule.
In a meeting with the captains on March 20, it has been decided that the new ball will be used after the 11th over of the second innings of the IPL match. This decision has been taken to reduce the effect of dew in night matches and give bowlers a chance to perform better. This will give less benefit to the captain who won the toss. Bowler will be able to control the ball in the last overs, due to which the batsmen will not be able to rain runs easily.
Ban removed from the use of saliva
The use of saliva was banned during the Kovid epidemic. Now this ban has been removed, so that bowlers will be able to use saliva on the ball. International bowlers Mohammed Shami, Vernon Philander and Tim Southee advocated the use of saliva. The use of saliva will help bowlers in swing and reverse swing, which will have to work hard to score runs. Overall, both these decisions are going to give relief to the bowlers.
Mohammad Shami demanded
During the Champions Trophy 2025, Mohammad Shami had demanded the removal of the ban on the use of spit on the ball. After a bang in the semi -finals against Australia, Shami had said, ‘We were trying to reverse swing, but the ball is not allowed to hit the saliva. We were appealing to put saliva so that we could bring the reverse swing to the game again so that the matter is fun. Shami had placed this demand in front of the ICC, which the BCCI listened to and has allowed saliva on the ball in IPL 2025. Now it has to be seen how much bowlers can benefit from it.
